Prior to the deployment, communication across the campus was both time-consuming and inefficient. Updating paper-based noticeboards required physically walking across multiple buildings and manually replacing content—a repetitive process that could take up to two to three hours every day.
Email was the only alternative communication channel, but it proved ineffective in practice, as many employees move between buildings and laboratories and are often focused on hands-on work, making it difficult to stay informed.

The need for a centralized and accessible platform
To address these challenges, the campus required a centralized system that could be accessed both from the office and remotely, while remaining simple enough for the wider team to use on a daily basis.
At the same time, infrastructure constraints added complexity. Limited cabling options and the presence of a historic listed building meant that part of the deployment required a flexible, non-invasive approach.
A flexible and resilient digital signage deployment
To overcome these constraints, a combination of wired and wireless BrightSign devices was deployed. For the listed building, a mobile solution was implemented, ensuring compliance with building restrictions while still delivering effective communication.
